Re: I agree that B-Sand seems to have inserted Graendal into the Slayer plot line in TOM DomA Send a noteboard - 23/09/2012 08:19:02 PM
I think it would have been a better story to introduce Hessalam in TOM after her escape caused the death of Aran'gar. I worry that this new twist will simply give no time to really develop and may be distracting to the rest of the book unless something along the lines of what you describe turns out to be the case.

I do think we'll see the last vestiges of Mesaana's WT plots ... Perhaps carried out by Hessalam or Moghedien. Hard to say if Mesaana had subverted Novices (I would actually like to see that), but at the very least there are still like 100 BA women floating around out there in need of a Boss ... Alviarin and her group will likely be little more than sacrificial lambs, but that is one loose end I can't imagine being left unresolved.

I get the feeling the BA will be undetrained in the OP and mostly useful because of all they know about the Westlands at the higher levels - good for hit-and-runs and targeted missions and so on. I expect Demandred's women will rather be full soldiers, trained WoS style. Aside from Shadowspawn, I frankly don't expect Demandred to have bothered much with non-channelers. Why would he? They hold down channelers for transportation, they need to eat and they can't be equipped with advanced weapons that would let them face channelers as it was the case in the WOS.

The Light has two big disadvantages over Demandred, and that's the fact most of their armies are "traditional" and mundane, and unlike the Shadow they have tons of cities and population to defend, all over the place.

To save Caemlyn, it would have taken a mixed gender force bigger than what Rand had at the Pendaloan manor, as many of those mass destruction weaves just couldn't be used in a city where you mustn't kill the population.... and that was mostly just Shadowspawn, I dread to imagine what it will be like when the Shadow puts its dreadlords on the field en masse.

Now pretty much all the Light can do for Caemlyn is send the channelers to raze it so the Shadow doesn't hold a city in the heart of the Westlands.
