Personally I'm not that fussed about chronology - but I appreciate your point that TGS wasn't in Jordan's style.
To me it's part of the fact that we won't have the books that Jordan would have written - we'll have to live with the next best thing instead.
When BS announced he was splitting the books I was really dubious - I remembered RJ's quote that the book couldn't be split because there would be one long introduction then a crazy amount of action and it wouldn't be balanced. Given the circimstances, I'm not sure BS could have split the story any other way than the way he did without writing a book that would have disappointed most readers. I felt that most of the more minor points of view were necessary to the plot. And the structure of TGS worked with his approach to storytelling which has always been more about pace.
Anyway, after BS has finished the series I'm planning on re-reading the last three books in as close to chronological order (storywise) as I can. I want to see how the books might have been had they been structured the way RJ had planned. Might be a fun thing to plan for 2012?

Everyone seems to think Rand will talk to Egwene, but a male channeler also makes sense

No Elayne hopefully, but again it looks like Egwene has everything fall in her lap

After his COT review, a less then gushing review isn't great

But he is specifically trying to avoid being overly fanboyish BECAUSE of that CoT review. *NM*

Damn, his COT review was infinitely more enthusiastic. What could it all mean? *NM*

It's odd, I didn't see any reference to Rand descending from DM in his review.
