Yes there was a first age, no it is not a loop. Kieran Send a noteboard - 23/04/2010 01:49:45 AM
It's only logical that there actually must have been one very first Age, immediately after the Creator made the Wheel. Of course, after countless turnings of the Wheel, the names "first Age", "second Age" and so on lost their meaning a bit, since you could also call them the 1081. Age and the 1082. Age (or whatever would fit, if you count all Ages that ever occurred). However, since the particular Ages basically always have the same activity, it makes sense to name them always from 1st Age to 7th Age and not continuously increase the numbers in the names of the Ages or change the particular numbers of the Ages (at least from the PoV from an omniscient narrator).

Indeed, the books say that each turning of the wheel has slightly more change to it. its not a loop but more like a spiral growing bigger and bigger each time. Each time it still circles, but a little bigger than the last time, or rather a little more change than last time.

I think FT is saying that human conceptions of time don't apply to eternity. - 22/04/2010 04:14:45 PM 613 Views
However, I think RJ definitely had an idea, what each Age of the 7 Ages is supposed to be. *NM* - 22/04/2010 09:53:20 PM 309 Views
