What is your basis for arguing that "trigger warnings" are beneficial? Tom Send a noteboard - 20/10/2017 07:19:42 PM

Here are some written interrogatories, counsel.

  1. Please cite the study or studies that form the basis for your conclusion that trigger warnings are useful and/or psychologically beneficial.

  2. List, with particularity, every proposed condition or experience that qualifies for the insertion of trigger warnings.

  3. Provide, in detail, the proposed format through which your trigger warnings would be inserted.

  4. Indicate your policy, if any, for books that are currently in print and circulation, as well as any proposed modifications.

  5. Detail the anticipated cost of any and all actions you seek to implement.

  6. Provide full details on what sanctions, if any, you would use to enforce your proposed change.

  7. Cite, with particularity, situations in which an individual was "triggered" that would reasonably justify the actions you propose.

  8. Provide an analysis that shows that your proposed actions would not have a material negative impact on Constitutional rights of citizens, publishers or others.

  9. Provide an analysis that shows that your proposed actions would not have a material negative impact on literature, the arts generally, or the creative process as a whole.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
