Each brand of whisky has a unique taste, so there are many different finishes.
Dewar's is a blend, so there's no difference from batch to batch. With single malts, however, you'd get a slightly different whisky each time it's made.
Blends tend to be smoother on the palate, depending which area they're made from. Dewar's owns distilleries in three different parts of Scotland, so if they blend using whiskies from all of those distilleries it's going to have a different taste from the usual distinguishers.
My favourite whiskies are those from the Highlands and Islands. I like mine to be smokey and a little peaty. Laphroaig, Talisker and Lagavulin are my favourites.
