the main advice i can offer is that you should be very very careful how you secure the snake's cage when it is tiny, as tiny snakes can be difficult to find when they get out. and yes, they will get out if they can. not that you shouldn't always keep it secured, but a larger snake is less likely to be hiding under the bathroom vanity when it gets out.

We're thinking vivarium, so no gaps apart from the little ones for air.
also, keep it as clean as you can. mites are a big problem for captive snakes but a clean cage/enclosure will greatly reduce the probability your snake will get mites.
Good advice.
other than that, make sure you know your snake's feeding schedule. a small snake may not be very intimidating, but they will still snap at you walking by if they are starving. not sure of the corn snake's power, but there is a potential for it to literally break its face if you aren't careful. many snakes can go weeks between feedings, but you should be able to get a feel for when it's hungry.

Live feeding is illegal in the UK, unless the snake in question refuses all other food.

Good enough reasons, but making it illegal?! The nanny state is so bad they're coddling snakes?

I don't assume it, I merely included the possibility.
