Most likely an adorable little corn snake.
Anyone have/had a pet snake? Advice? Suggestions?
Look into all all the crap you have to buy to take care of properly. My buddy had a couple snakes and he was constantly buying crap for them. Not sure he needed all that crap but he thought he did. Also how long will the damn thing live. You may be making a twenty year commitment.
Like children, then?
Any reasons why we shouldn't get one?
After a little while they get pretty boring. They really don't do much and they will never show affection.
Depends on the snake breed, apparently.
Any reasons why we should?
They work better than puppies and small children to get hot girls to talk to you at the park. Not sure how much that will help you but it is what I always likes about them.
Men.
You don't need anyone come and feed them if you go away for the weekend and they don't bark or demand attention.
Definite attraction.
I like snakes.
I do to. That is why I always go to the reptile house at the zoo.
Yeah.
Well. I like our friend's pet snake. She is lovely.
Snakes are cool but I don't think they make very good pets. I prefer either fish or domesticated animals to live in my house.
We have fish, and we can't have obvious animals in this house because of the title deeds. When we buy a family home we'll get dog and cat as well. I love animals.

Live feeding is illegal in the UK, unless the snake in question refuses all other food.

Good enough reasons, but making it illegal?! The nanny state is so bad they're coddling snakes? *NM*

I can't prove it, but believe the reptilian brain too primitive to comprehend concepts like "love".

Why do you assume we'd get a big snake?

I don't assume it, I merely included the possibility.
