Most likely an adorable little corn snake.
That whole "adorable" part is a very subjective one, and I suspect that plenty of friends, house guests, relatives and other people you may willingly bring into your house might not share that belief. It happens to be one of those instinctual aversions that people have.
I know. It's one reason the snake will live in our bedroom. Away from prying eyes and also quieter.
Anyone have/had a pet snake? Advice? Suggestions?
None from this corner. I do know that you're going to have to buy lots of live mice, though.
Our friend feeds her snake frozen mice.
Any reasons why we shouldn't get one?
1. Camilla won't come see you anymore
2. Lots of other people might have issues with it
They won't have to see it!
3. The live mice you have to feed it might get loose or poop on something and give you hantavirus or bite you or in some other way damage your house (or a combination of all of the above)
Nah, frozen all the way.
4. It's a sin (cf. Genesis 3:14-15) (sorry, had to throw that one in for shits and giggles)
Heh
5. Snakes bite and aren't friendly
Very small snake.
6. Snakes don't smile or express emotions
Neither do goldfish, and I love love love my goldfish.
7. If a snake escapes, it can be hard to find and disconcerting when found
True fact. That's definitely one thing we're a little uncertain about.
8. All the stupid temperature issues around keeping a cold-blooded animal
~nods~
9. Snakes are pretty listless most of the time
Yeah. I don't need a high-energy pet. I have Tim.
Any reasons why we should?
1. If it dies you can make some wallets out of it
Fairy wallets?
2. They look evil and cool
Totally.
3. They scare the living shit out of some people and the response would be fun to watch
4. Some people get a sense of sick joy watching mice killed and eaten
...
5. Satan commands it (cf. Samael 12:8, Maledictions 15:5-7)
LOL
6. You can throw it on intruders
LOL
7. You can take it on a plane, increasing the chances you will meet Samuel L. Jackson
Sweet.
I like snakes.
Good for you.
Thanks.
Well. I like our friend's pet snake. She is lovely.
That gets me back to the whole "subjective" part...

Live feeding is illegal in the UK, unless the snake in question refuses all other food.

Good enough reasons, but making it illegal?! The nanny state is so bad they're coddling snakes? *NM*

I can't prove it, but believe the reptilian brain too primitive to comprehend concepts like "love".

I don't assume it, I merely included the possibility.
