Why isn't that being discussed and debated? If it's a legitimate life choice for a woman to stay home, then it should be so for a man as well. Yet somehow people balk at extending the logic.

It's just more practical for the mother in most cases (especially in the early months) because of breastfeeding.

At least over here the government is slowly beginning to understand that "maternity" pay should be "parental" pay. It's been that way for a while in some (if not all) Scandinavian countries.

This kind of attitude change takes a long time.
