I agree churches shouldn't automatically get a tax break, but they should when they work as a charity. My church, for example, opens up as a place for homeless people to sleep during the winter, and puts on free lunches every Friday.

But if we didn't do that then we wouldn't qualify for tax-free status.

That's sensible, I think.
