I've read Dune and most of 2001 (or maybe a different one of those, I can't remember) and some Banks. That's about it.
For fantasy it would be Ursula LeGuin. And I've only read the first Malazan so far. I hate ASoIaF. No Gene Wolfe or Bakker. Loads of others, more than likely.
There's a lot of time, though. And Ben has a nice bookshelf full of books ...
