And that's why I made a list of books I had to read this year, things that people are "supposed" to read. Most of them have actually been outstanding, several have been rubbish.
I think Anne Bishop is underrated, but it has been rather a few years since I read her.
Um. AS Byatt is amazing, and I think more people need to read her books. Some might think it pretentious, but I don't think it is. They're alternately earthy, out-of-this-world beautiful, academic and soul-satisfying. If Possession doesn't look like your thing then try Babel Tower.
