By that I mean, do you read only one book at the time? Do you have to finish that book before you can pick up another?
It happens very seldom.
Or do you read a little here and a little there, sticking with a book for a while, stopping by to have a taste at another, before finishing the first?
Almost always. I'm currently reading three books and have begun to read a few pages in two additional books. I usually need to read several books at a time since I must be in a mood for reading books. It's hard to read a particular book if I'm not in the right mood for it. So several books --> always have something to read no matter the mood I'm in. However, sometimes I'm in a mood when no book interests me and I don't read books for a week or two.
I am very much of the latter type. I read books through all the time, but quite frequently I will have put another book aside in order to read the one I am currently reading without interruptions. I read by craving. I don't know whether this is a side-effect of working with books all the time, or just a natural part of the human condition. And so I ask.
That sounds like me.

Are you a "monogamous" reader, as it were?

For the most part. Not always, but then it usually ends up with me divorcing the first book. *NM*
