And hence my opinion that most of them are chosen for nostalgia reasons. I LOVE the Belgariad, a lot, it's definitely one of my favourite reads. That's because it's the first overt fantasy series I read, and that was when I was 10.
But if the question had been "Best SF & Fantasy" I'd never have chosen that, nor indeed the Feist, much as I love the Riftwar Saga.
