I can't think of a great example right now, but I wouldn't disagree with you about some stories requiring mystery in order to be enjoyed. It just seems like a lot of people avoid spoilers as a matter of course (the internet is full of people getting mad about the tiniest spoiled fact), when it's possible that they might be better off having things spoiled in the majority of cases.

Anyway I'm not really trying to argue that case myself, I just think it's an interesting thought, especially since it seems to agree with my personal preferences. :)
