It was very well done. I don't like reading comic books even when they call themselves graphic novels, but I don't have problems with animated movies. 
Heh. I wasn't that interested in the film before reading the book.
And I don't normally enjoy comics/graphic novels either, but this is very clever and appropriate. Works really well in this format; I don't think it would have been interesting as a regular novel.
