So much fun!

The book is about a trainee copper who discovers he can do magic (after he sees a ghost). He's then transferred into the magic police force division and immediately has a very difficult and disturbing case to solve, all while learning his new-found talent and trying to stop a war between the two gods of the River Thames.

Tongue-in-cheek, gruesome, and terribly nifty, I think most people would enjoy this book.
