1. Who are you favourite SF/F characters?

Harry Dresden (Dresden Files, Jim Butcher). And Arithon and Asandir from Janny Wurts' The Wars of Light and Shadow.

1.a What makes them so good?

I love how much of a smartass Harry is, I love that his character grows and changes over the series, and I love his form of heroism.

Arithon and Asandir just feel real. The way they behave fits with their pasts and the way they're described. They're very different characters, but both have life.

2. Who are your favourite Other Literature characters?

Er. I asked this question and now I can't think of anyone past Mr Darcy and almost all of Georgette Heyer's heroes and heroines.

2.a What do you like about them?

Because they are both hot and funny. :P

3. What do you think is the most important part of writing a character?

They need to feel consistent and their actions need to fit with how they're described and what they know.

4. Who do you think is particularly bad at writing characters?

Jordan, especially his women.

5. In any literature, which is more important to you: story or characters?

The story, mostly. But if characters suck then even a great story cannot make a book worth reading.
