I read the Koran recently and was surprised at how it seemed to contradict itself in the same paragraph, and how the meaning of so much of it was incomprehensible. I wondered how much it was due to the translation to English, and differences in culture, or parts of cultural habit that have long been lost.
This book looks very much like something I should read in time.
