I like Sandman and Watchmen was ok, but I'm not much of a comic reader.
I did grow up on The Phantom comics, though, as my Grandma has a large collection (I think they were my uncle's).
And, of course, as one of European/British connections, we always read TinTin and Asterix as children. I love those a lot.
