respect being a must for any relationship. A person just has to not constantly prioritize that need over everything else. But yes, Min has no real life. I may not like it or approve, but I should stress a few things about that: (a) at least she chose it for herself, (b) she chose it for the single most important person *ever*, (c) he really needs it and (d) she had no special plans before getting caught up with the AS.
That last part is important. She wasn't getting her MBA or thinking of starting a hostler school or a mill. She served table, quit, and got wrapped up in the AS (they must've payed for her time).
In context, Min's decision to sacrifice everything for Rand is pretty sensible, really. And I'll say that she's shown a lot of courage in the things she's done - lobbying for Rand again in the Tower when she knows about the BA, being near Rand, trying to cover his back. She's got some knives, but no special training in anything (Mat was *suddenly* a staff prodigy in TDR, remember?). Knives are probably one of the best weapons for a woman of her size and physical condition. There might be a few better things should could reasonably carry, but they don't have guns. Also, I've never been bothered by Min's poor fighting skills in these books. She's gone up against pretty good enemies to lose to, right?
What makes far less sense is many of Min's decisions in the recent books. She's far less useful than she was before. Maybe we're not supposed to undervalue the big breakthrough she's going to have. Maybe this is why she's not constantly pestering Rand with thoughts like the theories that we have - or telling him to pump all his friends on everything they've done!
But Min left Salidar and she was put out to pasture! When did she tell Siuan about needing Gareth? Ages ago. We barely see any good, much less active, use of her cool skill over the last many books. Why can't she *try* weeding out DFs?
I digress. Min gets around Rand and she tries to make him feel better. That's really important, but it's pretty much all she's done in the last long while.
Now in the last two books, she's become Robin to Rand's Batman. Kinda hard to respect "the boy hostage," don't ya think? Especially since Rand's absurd maiming is blamed on her using sex to get what she wants (a dangerous first meeting with slavers, YAY!)

I'd choose Aviendha. But if Rand were forced, I think he would go with Min ...

Their hotness doesn't matter, and anyone'd be pissed if they got preggers

I'd go for Aviendha for "should" with Elayne being a good second option. Min is not a good match.
