I could be wrong, and apologies if you were already aware of those efforts. Doms maps look sharp; I'm not normally impressed by graphical images, but those are nice. I'm guessing he's the reason the clocks at the bottom of the page include one showing Canadian time, as linda_sedai is for the one showing Aussie time, but who could possibly matter enough for me to want the time in South Africa...?
Thanks Joel.
Linda has indeed already reworked several of the old FAQ inher own way. See for example the re organized "21 levels" article, her new version of Houses of Andor, or Houses of Cairhien which are complete rewrites (I illustrated them with familiy trees, and a map of the end of the Succession etc.). More of those rewrites are coming. A lot of articles from the old FAQ, with or without tweaks are still upcoming (new ones are released each week) - the work of indexing them as we do our read-thoughs is fairly taxing, which is by and large the explanation why they are not all available yet. If you look at our main index of articles, you can see which ones Linda is planning to release. Those missing on the list are those we currently have no plans for (though beware, Linda has also constructed articles by merging and reworking material that was scattered in many FAQs at Wotmania. Missing familiar titles don't necessarily mean the content isn't in a new place - the AS Halls various FAQs have been merged in one that way). We know we made it a bit more difficult for people used to the old FAQ section to find where everything is, but we're looking forward and couldn't afford to be tied down by the old orgnization of the section at Wotmania (the possibilities/tools were extremely limited). If you or anyone else ever has problems finding where we've put something, or questions about seemingly missing information etc., don't hesitate to email us at our 'Ask Zemaille adress at zemaille @ gmail.com. It'll be our pleasure to point you guys in the right direction.
Our focus, interests and aims for the Thirteenth Depository are a little different than those of the old FAQ section. For the FAQ that are literally just Frequently Asked Questions material, ie: who is who, who did what when, who is the Watcher etc. Linda has (or will) republished all her own existing ones (Ages FAQ, Who is a DF etc. she has a whole load of them) - and some collaborations and some written by our friends like Shishka and Salty and Marcia - but there is presently no plan to write new versions of those written by others. Dragonmount is hard at work revamping Leigh Butler's FAQ (senior people from several sites have been invited to participate in the preliminary discussions/reserach, incl. Linda and me - though our contributions are sporadic and mimnimal because of all the work at the Blog) and bringing it back online later this fall. Most of the topics from the 'missing FAQs' are covered in that initiative, as far as I can tell.
We also have a few exciting (exciting for us to work on anyway, hopefully for our readers to read too!) new articles in the works. Some have been announced in our Index as upcoming, a few more will be surprises.
