One thing I've not seen mentioned here (at least for a while) is that Moiraine said that channlers can "sense" creatures of the shadow. Remember when the vampire thingies attacked? So who knows, maybe she was walking down the street and got a cramp in her hooten-nanny and knew it was a dark friend... or a forsaken near-by. Or I could just be talking out of my sleeve.
