Yep, I agree. Shishka Send a noteboard - 08/03/2010 05:58:03 PM
Ishy realizes he is evil according to the world, but to him it doesn't matter. For he has no need for the term evil, indeed he doesn't believe in it.

If anything, Ishy believes that the cyclic nature of existance provided by the Wheel is evil. But he almost certainly doesn't view himself, or his actions, as evil. He feels no remorse for anything he does.

Did Adolph Hitler think to himself "Yes, what I'm doing is wrong/evil, but it needs to be done nevertheless, so I'll just suck it up and do it."? Of course not. He believed what he was doing was right, and therefore NOT evil. Ishamael is no different.

So he understands why others view him as evil and how repulsive his actions are, but he himself never feels any 'guilt' because he has convinced himself that, at the end of the day, human perceptions such as 'good' and 'evil' don't matter and are meaningless.

I agree that he would consider any distinction between good and evil ultimately meaningless. But I don't think that's why he doesn't consider himself evil, and doesn't feel any guilt/remorse for what he does. He doesn't consider himself evil, and doesn't feel guilt or remorse, because he believes in his cause to such a singular extent that he is devoid of concern towards anything else, be it societal, social, etc. Other humans are simply tools to him - means to an end - and if he occasionally has to destroy those tools, so be it. That's what you do to tools that fail you, you get rid of them and get new ones that function better.
Rise and fall, turn the Wheel,
'cause all life is
is really just a circle.
