Your definition is technically correct, too. It simply does not apply here. The source for believing in Kari's death is not only Rand's PoV, it is the general perspective of everyone who would know. I think Kari's death has to be accepted as a stipulated fact, even if true or false. For instance, accepting Moiraine's early assertion about men & women in the AoL being equals in strength is not the PoV trap. That is simply wrong information. If Kari is really alive, this would fall into the same category. We do not accept her death because we identify with Rand's mindset, we accept her death because it is stated by a generally reliable authority or source of information. If Rand is wrong about her death, it is because he has been given incorrect information, not because his mindset sways him toward a particular perspective.
