You should have realized that the Forsaken make mistakes all the time, because they are flawed and arrogant idiots, who consider themselvess godlike.


Yes and moreover:

1. People tend to forget that Rand is the reincarnation of LTT - the most accomplished man in the AoL, not just as a channeler, but as a military and political leader, strategist and probably others. With LTT's memories and mind, why wouldn't Rand be at least a match for Graendal?

2. Taveren effect. Rand's Taveren has grown stronger throughout the series. It is also show it grows with proximity. With Rand in Bandar Eban, he isn't that far away from Graendal center of operations - and thus he can influence peole's actions and events a lot more. Graendal's mistakes could partly be due to Rand's Taveren influence. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that even Semirhage mistakes are also partly caused by Rand's Taveren - most notably, taking a pause for a fun filled torture scene rather than get the hell out with her prize.
