The way it reads sounds like it could take a lot of time after someone's death to secure the right body... so unless it's a journey that takes months after your death I'm thinking Balefire shouldn't really make all that much difference.


Umm no, DO keeps your soul in his grasp, maybe inside the bore while waiting for a body to be secured. But the initial capture of the soul has to happen quickly. However, once the DO has your soul in his grasp, he can keep it from escaping to join the pattern.

So to continue my example. If he captured you in those 2 minutes, he could then keep your soul in his hand for years if he wanted to, he would not need to find a body in the remaining 3 minutes. But if he missed that 5 minute window, nothing could be done.
