But it fits better than the a'dam issue. Phelix Send a noteboard - 04/01/2010 05:24:28 AM
When I read that "the seed slays ancient wrong..." part, I thought it meant that the Seanchan would have a hand in killing Fain/Mordeth. Remember that Aginor recognized the dagger as an ancient evil, one that is anathema to the Dark One and his power... Fain/Mordeth is now the only means of spreading that particular evil.

If Fortuona captures Fain and executes him, for some interesting and plot fulfilling reason, she would fulfill this prophecy in that she, the last living heir (the last seed) of Hawkwing slayed an ancient evil.

While that is possible it feels rather odd to me.

I mean Tuon&Seanchan have had pretty much nothing to do with Fain, Mordeth or the evil of Aridhol. The onlything that I can think of is the short meeting between Fain and that Seanchan lord Turak put thats meaningless since Rand killed the guy.

It just seems unlikely to me that out of all the possible candidates to kill Fain such as Rand, Mat or the Slayer, it would be Tuon who actually killed him. That would be totally out of left field. I mean Tuon does not even know who Fain is. Does she even know/believe in the evil of Aridhol?

I think I for one would be disappointed if Fain, the one who was there at the very beginning, would be killed by Tuon rather than someone more significant and with a deeper connection to Fain. It would be an anticlimactic end to Fain for sure.

There is the fact that Aridhol fell, and the country that sprang up in its place was conquered by Hawkwing... so there would likely be records of Hawkwing's encounter with Shadar Logoth. Tuon would have read them, and could probably recognize Mordeth's name.

Aridhol's fall happened about 1,000 years before Hawkwing's Consolidation, which would put it about 2,000 years before the "present," making it much more "ancient" than the a'dam which were created during the Conquest of Seanchan.

As for anticlimax... can we say "Semirhage and Graendal?" :P
