You need to re-read some of this stuff darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 23/12/2009 11:01:15 PM
A moment before Egwene was talking about the only sister STRONG enough to match one of the Forsaken, being Nynaeve, and she was not present in Salidar. So Egwene considers the next strongest sisters in the camp. And she tries to portray how many of them would be needed to replace Nynaeve's strength.

And then she makes the comment about herself, Romanda and Lelaine (the next strongest 3 sisters in the camp). No one else matches those three, now that Nynaeve is gone.

It is all about strength in that scene. You have to read the context.

First of all this is a totally different scene from when Egwene discusses linking with Romanda and Lelaine... talking about linking with Romanda and Lelaine is in a totally different chapter!

Go re-read it, the entire passage is NOT about strength at all ... strength is a passing comment that only Nynaeve could match one of the Frosaken, when she could channel at all!

In fact, strength is never overtly mentioned, only that Moghedien could kill Egwene without being noticed since there was so much Channeling in the camp! Egwene even alludes to the fact that Moghedien's skill is such that the AS may not have a clue that she was channeling (i.e. if she was reversing her weaves and masking her ability she could kill Egwene without Egwene even knowing she was there).

The scene is centered on Egwene worrying on how Moghedien escaped and how and what she would do next!

A Crown of Swords
The Figurehead

And what if she had still been here? she wondered. With the necklace off, and maybe whoever freed her? Shivering, she withdrew slowly. Moghedien had good reason to dislike her, very personally, and the only sister who could match one of the Forsaken alone, when she could channel at all, was in Ebou Dar. Moghedien could have killed Egwene without anyone noticing; even had a sister felt her channel, there would be nothing remarkable in that. Worse, Moghedien might not have killed her. And no one would have known anything until they found the pair of them gone.

It's clear that Egwene knows she is not as strong as Moghedien, but that's never been in question! On my scale above I have Moghedien clearly ahead of Egwene and clearly behind Nynaeve... what is your point of bringing this up?
