but in a book like WoT I think we are safe to make assumptions that are a little less than realistic.
For example, Rand's Aiel father must have had brothers and sisters, which means Rand has uncles, aunts, and cousins among the Aiel, yet they weren't even mentioned when Rand asked about his parents.
Even if his dad was a single child, Rand would still have second and third cousins among the Aiel.
The fact that they weren't even mentioned bothers me, but it didn't fit in the story, so ... eh
