Why didn't Demandred go to the Stone of Tear and spend the time necessary to unravel Rand's wardings around Callandor, and take it for himself? There is no way that Rand's infantile skills could compare to Demandred's. RJ simply didn't want Demandred to have the sword.
It's not Rand's skill he has to worry about, but whatever's been leaking over from LT.
