The Heart of the Stone was indeed guarded. fionwe1987 Send a noteboard - 14/12/2009 09:45:13 PM

Why didn't Demandred go to the Stone of Tear and spend the time necessary to unravel Rand's wardings around Callandor, and take it for himself? There is no way that Rand's infantile skills could compare to Demandred's. RJ simply didn't want Demandred to have the sword.

Demandred couldn't know how much of LTT's memories Rand was working off of. He's not going to risk himself testing just how much Rand knows or doesn't know.

Demandred could try to unravel the warding without it catching him. If Elza could unravel Cadsuane's most advanced wardings using AOL weaves, then I don't see why Demandred couldn't compete on Lews Therin's level. He had months to try before Rand sent for it again.

Okay, but how is he going to gain access to the Stone when it's nominally under Rand's control? In order to study the wards he has to not only get into the Stone but get into the Heart and be able to stay there for long periods of time (while doing "nothing" from the perspective of a non-male-channeler). It wouldn't be a casual undertaking.

I agree with you, but Demandred is possibly one of the most skilled channelers who's ever lived. I doubt the hall where the sa'angreal is kept is under guard - more like the Stone in totality is. Demandred could Travel there, use Illusion, or perhaps a hundred weaves we've never thought of. Even if it came down to it, Demandred could destroy an army of Aiel, though I doubt it would be his first choice. He'd need an extended period of time alone with Callandor to work out the warding and try to unravel it.

So why didn't Egwene Travel into the Tower storerooms from Salidar and steal the sa'angreal? - 13/12/2009 08:32:01 PM 1363 Views
