Barring Moridin, anyway.

It's actually a bit of a deconstruction on the whole "Evil Overlord Mua Ha Ha" trope. The Forsaken are, or rather were the exact type of person you'd expect to have an island fortress shaped like a skull.

However, whenever we actually start to get to know a Forsaken, we see that they're often motivated by base and petty emotions. Asmodean was just a mediocre, bitter musician. Demandred is just a jealous do-nothing who's managed to convince himself that he and LTT are nemesises. Semi just loved her "Mistress of the Damned" image, and threw a temper tantrum when no one would take her seriously.

Lanfear... Lanfear is the epitome of the crazy ex-girlfriend.


So, yeah. The Forsaken, while still having the capacity for massive death and destruction, aren't to really be taken seriously anymore. Moridin's attitudes say as much- they're simply selfish pawns to be manipulated by the DO towards his goal.
