Something I've been wondering, and I meant to ask of the dragonmount boards, but for some reason they have an error with user registration that won't let me make an account.
Balefire burns things out of the pattern.
The pattern extends across all of the dimensions, there isn't a seperate pattern for every one of them is there?
If Rand (or any other character in the series) was Balefired in one of those alternate realities, would he cease to exist in the primary one?

there are seperate Patterns for each mirror world
