The two almost coincide with each other. IMO I think the internet helped the Wheel of Time's popularity grow much more then it would have otherwise. I think the internet has also done that for a number of newer authors as well. What do you think?
I for one would definitely not have gotten as much out of the books as I have without the internet community theorising and extrapolating etc
Considering I first read through at the age of 13 or so there is no way I was mature enough or well read enough to recognise and appreciate references and themes and all the other things that make WOT what it is; Now I'm 19 and fairly well versed in all the WOT shit that the internet has on it and I am very appreciative of all the people who have taken serious time to improve my interpretation of the books.
