I think Taim has been a darkfriend for years - maybe even his whole life.

At some stage he was picked up by one of the male Forsaken and trained a little. He was undoubtedly picked up by Ishamael at a very early stage, and rescued by his command, but his training could have been under a different Forsaken, like Demandred or Sammael. If he's even had training - he may just be a very skilled channeler who's worked out some secret weaves.

Either way, I think he's Alviarin's equivalent. She was selected to be the head of the BA long ago by Ishamael, and eventually Mesaana picked her up and trained her a little. It's similar with Taim.


he spent a lot of time training under Ishamael before the events of the series.


As far as I know his only mannerism is to call the Aes Sedai - 'so called'. It's a pointer to a Forsaken, but not always.
