You miss my point entirely... Shannow Send a noteboard - 06/12/2009 06:24:05 PM

If you use Dashiva's presence at the Black Tower as evidence that Moridin was running it, then you should also say that Moridin was in control of Egwene through Arangar, which wasn't the case. Arangar was pretty much running her show just as much as Semirhage was running her show in Seanchan, and Mesaana was running the White Tower.

Moridin probably did send Aran'gar to Salidar. After Cabriana was captured, Semirhage got the location of their secret base, and Aran'gar was given the information. She says as much. She also calls Egwene her 'charge', which is a strong hint that she was given her as a mission.

It's the same with Osan'gar. It's ludicrous to think that he'd volunteer to become Rand's minion, and a swordsman who rides a horse. There's not one thing he'd savour in that, especially considering he's useless at it.

Reborn Forsaken are given missions and lose their freedom. Moridin has directly told Lanfear and Moghedien that.

I didn't say Dashiva went to the Black Tower on his own, or that Arangar went to Egwene on her own, or that Semirhage and Mesaana decided by themselves to go to their various locations.

It was ALL centrally directed, from about LoC onwards, possibly earlier.

So Arangar and Dashiva were both reporting to Moridin. But the fact that Arangar was in Salidar, meant that Moridin HIMSELF was not directly responsible for it. In the same way, because Dashiva was there for a brief period, it suggests that Moridin himself wasn't the one running things at the Black Tower DIRECTLY.

So the question is, before and after Dashiva's presence at the Black Tower, who was running it? It isn't Moridin, since Graendal says he is focussed on gathering the Shadow's forces in the Blight - a task we thought might be given to Demandred before.

So, who was running the Black Tower in Book 6? And who ran it after Dashiva was allocated to Rand's entourage in the Prologue to Book 7? It was either Demandred, or Taim himself.

I think it was Demandred all along, and that Moridin was never more involved with the Black Tower than he was with the White Tower or with the Salidar Aes Sedai, or with the Seanchan.

So from the one extreme - where Linda Sedai suggests that Moridin is Taim himself, I propose the exact opposite, that Moridin is in fact not involved with the Black Tower at all, anymore than he is with any other part of the Shadow's campaign.

If you base it on Osangar, then you should also say Moridin was in charge of Egwene... - 06/12/2009 06:04:37 PM 701 Views
