Exactly. The weave itself didn't fail but the flows were powerless against the bubble of evil.

I think the solution is much more difficult to accomplish; Rand and Co need to bring order to the Pattern in order for it to Heal itself. Chaos caused the Pattern to weaken, and it seems the only way to defeat the Shadow is for Rand to "clear away the debris", which can be interpreted to mean archaic civilizations, power structures and institutions, in order to create a new system that can revitalize humanity ("belief and order give strength", which seems much more difficult than winning a mere succession of battlefields.
P.S. Which brings me to my pet peeve of finding so many channelers, none of whom have been said to be strong in Water.

I like this theory. Beats the TP and Saidin+Saidar theories for workability IMO. *NM*

That would definitely be pretty cool. It'd also explain just what the Eye of the World was FOR!

And maybe this was what Herid Fel wanted to talk to Rand about? A Well of Saidin/Saidar mixed.

Maybe, but I think the problem is the Dark One's ability to affect weaves that should last forever.
