I definitely agree with the comment that Sanderson is more explicit about how characters are feeling and what they are thinking, which can break some of the assumptions we have made about them. I do think that Talmanes was a bit broken, unfortunately.
Characters that I thought he did well were Sorilea (actually, all the Aiel) and Tuon.
