That would definitely be pretty cool. It'd also explain just what the Eye of the World was FOR!

I mean, I somehow doubt that the purpose of the EotW was to be a weapon for Rand to use against someone who wanted to misuse the EotW.
And "guard duty for the Horn of Valere and a Seal and a Banner" isn't good enough for me, sorry.
I don't think a well like the EotW WILL come into play at the end of the book, but I think it'd be neat. The main reason I don't think it will be a factor is because nobody has even MENTIONED the bloody Eye since the first hundred pages of tGH.
RJ's big into foreshadowing, at least a bit. "Clearing the rubble to clear a path" has been around for half a dozen books, and we've seen indications that Callandor has an odd effect on Rand since tSR. Both of those things are, judging from tGS, going to be a Big Deal at Tarmon Gai'don.
The Eye hasn't been mentioned at ALL, therefore it will not be important. It's very meta, and I apologize for that, but I'm pretty confident I'm right.
Still, it's a cool theory.

I amuse myself.

I like this theory. Beats the TP and Saidin+Saidar theories for workability IMO. *NM*

And maybe this was what Herid Fel wanted to talk to Rand about? A Well of Saidin/Saidar mixed.

Maybe, but I think the problem is the Dark One's ability to affect weaves that should last forever.

Exactly. The weave itself didn't fail but the flows were powerless against the bubble of evil.
