I'd really like to hear from everyone on this. Do you agree? Disagree? Why?
I thought he relied way too much on humor to drive Mat's character in this. Now, I understand that Mat didn't have a whole lot going on plot-wise, but it definitely felt unnatural. Talmanes in particular was too funny. He had always been somber before and never showed much amusement or awkwardness. In tGS, there way too much of that "twinkle in his eye" or whatever. It felt wrong.

It seemed like Mat's sardonic side/joker side was over played. Given his impressive memories and innate intelligence, he did come across as too much of a joker.
Also, I have always thought of Mat saying "Blood and Bloody Ashes" not "Bloody Ashes". A small point, I know, but it just did not sound right for Mat.
Absolutely. Mat was my only complaint in tGS (granted, not a HUGE complaint, but he is still my favorite character in the series and I would appreciate his character being done right).
Here's to keeping the spirit of Wotmania alive...cheers to RAFO

I think this is a consequence of him not really doing anything important.

Yeah, "burn it" is just strange after hearing "burn me" for so long.
