but when semi makes rand use a weave on min, his reaction was something along the lines of "omg not THAT weave!" like it was something horrible. instead it turned out to be just a weave that makes pain.
His reaction was "No! Not that!" when he realized she made him torture Min. I read this sentence to mean "No! Don't make me hurt her!" - horror at the prospect of seeing himself causing harm to Min, rather than to any specific weave.
Note that a paragraph earlier he tells Lews Therin that he will not hurt a woman, when Semirhage had him seize Saidin. Then immediately after that, not only is he forced to hurt one, but specifically the one he loves.
As for why he only used a pain weave, obviously Semirhage wanted him to kill her physically, as she almost managed to make him do later on.
