I wonder if balefire, when burning out threads of the pattern, leaves it with "holes" through which the DO can touch the world. I wonder if that massive balefire attack on Grandael has directly caused the immediate spoilage of all the food nearby.


I'm thinking whatever that "blackness" that hovers around Rand after tapping the True Source is what spoils the food. I can't remember why now, but that was something I was thinking while reading.
