You were shown as early as TDR that conquering someone doesn't mean they are going to follow you

Why should Rand be accepted as leader through Egwene's choice?
Why should he not wrest his leadership from all contenders by the power of his force.
Destroying the Choedan Kal was ridiculous. He could have sealed Tarwin's Gap through volcanic lava.
He could have shielded ALL Aes Sedai, and made them swear allegiance to him one by one. Including Egwene.
He could have crushed the Seanchan.
Then he could have asaulted Shayol Ghul with a united, ordered force behind him, not because the world chooses to follow him, but because if they don't, the Dark One wins. It is the rational, logical course to follow.
Anyway, shattering the Choedan Kal was unnecessary. He did not have to erase Ebou Dar with it. He could just have destroyed the Seanchan fleet with it. Or turned the Seanchan continent into the Randland version of Atlantis.
Having a feelgood scene may be nice and fuzzy, but it wasn't really necessary for victory.

Or obey you. Rand had to waste so much time because he had to worry about weiramon and others plotting. Even your hard Rand respected Darlin more because he came willingly. Not everyone is logical and destroying people would NOT make his followers more logical it would make them less logical.
If Rand could destroy a nation because they don't obey him without him earning their trust then the followers he has acquired will start to believe they are expendible. Maybe you think they are. Maybe your right. but consiser the logic of this.
If they are truly expendible then why does Rand need to subjugate them? Either the people are needed and therefore should be treated with worth or they aren't needed and are only there to feed his ego.
People will never unite behind him if they don't believe he is saving them, leading THEM.
Just to take Moiraine's view the wheel weaves as the wheel wills. It is plausible to believe that Rand will automatically be successful as the wheel wills it. So he does not need MY support and if he is the horrible man he seems to be WE must be prepared and reserved to destroy him as soon as he accomplishes the wheels will. Rand's behavior can and does affect his leadership stability. Do you think he could keep his Aiel in check with fear of death? already his disrespect of them makes them consider leaving him high and dry. Would dark Rand let them defy him? knowing the Aiel would such behavior lead to an even grander exodus?
There are so many drawbacks to Dark Rand because he is ultimately counter productive. Tuon would have agreed to the treaty if she had not felt his evil. The ta'veren pull on her was immense. But Rand made himself undesirable and untrustworthy. imagine if all his followers felt that way?
Rand and Roose Bolton...

That is probably due to you having fought so many wars in Video Games, but not real ones.

I loved Dark Rand. I agree, I wish he was around longer. Should've come out earlier in the series.

Reading about a saint is boring. Reading about an imperfect hero is exciting.

I don't read for morality either, but IMO, it makes a better story because it is tougher

You're right. But I'm very angry with the writers for portraying Egwene in such a positive way.

I do have to say, though, that I would have burst out laughing if he balefired Tuon and the Seanchan
