One thing to bear in mind when working out the strenght differenced between the male and female forsaken is that the men have to be stronger to make up the advantage the females have being more dexterious.

The impression I had was that very dexterous women can get more effect for the effots that a male not so dexterous. By way of example, woman A might be able to get an effect using say 90 units of Saidir while a less dexterous man must use 100 units of saidin to get the same effect.

Strenght is important for the forsaken, you don't get into the club unless you are a certain minimum level but at the same time skill and dextity in weaving is a big factor as well. If you are a very nible channeler one can make up for strenght deficiencies. Added to that is skill. Its really great if you are fantastic as mining or mixing metals but on the battle field that may not be as relevent. I don't think that there is any doubt that Aginor is skilled, he did create the trollocks after all and he seems to have been quite strong but he plain sucked when it came to using the one power in fighting.

Lastly the forsaken like being alive and don't like taking chances with their lives unless they have to. The likes of Rand will chanrge into battle because he is willing to risk his life where as other forsaken will only take the risk of fithting if they have to. Again by way of example say Rahvin could take say Messana seven times out of ten in battle he would still not attack her openly unless he had either no choice or an advantage because the prize of removing a rival would not be worth the risk the 30% chance of loosing.

Its this attitude that allowed certain forsaken to dominate others who may have been a bit stronger. Sammael did not seem to be too shy when it came to personal peril, and Demandred certainly gives the impression that he is not a man to be trifled with as he may just lay into you there and there, and the risk be damned. That means others are wary around them simply because the could start a fight.

When you add it all up I think that RJ set it up that interaction between the very strong channelers is very very complex and resolves around a lot of different factors that have to be taken into account and that could change from encounter to encounter. I certainly don't think that you can say Forsaken A backed off from Forsaken B once so obviously Forsaken B must be a lot stronger.

Reducing the number of people holding the shield, reduces the strength of the shield correspondingly - 13/11/2009 07:15:24 AM 506 Views
