Mesaana is indeed not of the Black Ajah. Therefore she could have passed the test by simply saying "I am not nor have I ever been of the Black Ajah," even after swearing the Oath. I don't have my book handy, and I'm fairly certain that this part was rather glossed over with the Tower Aes Sedai (the scene in question was only referred to).
She didn't specify that I'm aware - they retook the Three Oaths and then denied being a Darkfriend. We only saw Romanda speak the actual words that I recall (Lelaine swears next, but not in direct speech), and she says "I am not a Darkfriend," then adds "And I never have been" herself. The others "promised that they were not Darkfriends".
I seem to recall that when Talene was exposed, the other five Sitters varied the speech slightly between 'not a Darkfriend' and 'not of the Black Ajah", so there is some potential for sidestepping the point, perhaps?
