You're assuming two things.
First, that Graendal is in fact dead. She probably is, sure, but this is NOT proven.
Second, that the only people who know the identity of Asmodean's killer are Asmodean himself and the killer. Why can't someone else know? Couldn't we get it from some other POV?
All Sanderson is saying is that IF Graedal were the killer, she can't be balefired so far back that it would bring Asmodean back.
