Hm. Possible. Kaldric Send a noteboard - 04/11/2009 06:42:12 PM
If she didn't die, but instead modified her weave to go off around male channeling so as to look as if she did when she actually escaped, the mechanics of balefire wouldn't matter.

Rand would channel saidin, the warded flows would be triggered and fade perhaps setting off an alarm, and Graendal would have left before the balefire hit the palace.

How do you escape from balefire? Don't get hit by it.

I can at least see where you are coming from now, but I still think she's dead. From a literary standpoint, I think the significance of the scene was to show how much Rand has changed, which was shown quite well, in my opinion, and your theory wouldn't add significantly to it. From a plot standpoint, I think your suggestion is needlessly complex and doesn't quite fit what I envision about Graendal. Moghedien might have done that, but I always pictured Graendal as less paranoid.

I could be wrong though. I'm sure we'll find out in the next year or two.

P.S. The "NSSP" is implied.

Of course, [Quixote] carried it a bit too far. He thought that every windmill was a giant. That's insane. But, thinking that they might be...

I think it's fair to say at this point that Graendal did not kill Asmodean. - 02/11/2009 04:36:37 AM 776 Views

Dead as Dumbledore. But why does it preclude her from being Asmo's killer? - 02/11/2009 07:04:08 AM 702 Views
Right. That info could easily be revealed through the POV of another. *NM* - 02/11/2009 02:15:31 PM 315 Views

That weave was very complex. - 02/11/2009 10:34:36 PM 606 Views
Actually, the one that Rand had Nynaeve study earlier was more complex. - 04/11/2009 05:11:07 PM 691 Views
But you can't reverse Compulsion by unraveling it, right? - 18/11/2009 10:48:08 PM 624 Views
Almost certainly dead - 02/11/2009 04:48:18 PM 768 Views
Yeah. Compared to, say, Sammael's "death" - 02/11/2009 10:40:01 PM 674 Views
Not even almost. Graendal and Sammael now both go well with eggs. *NM* - 03/11/2009 01:51:15 AM 338 Views

No, I'm making it more simple. - 04/11/2009 11:11:36 PM 635 Views
That thoery doesn't account for the undoing of the Compulsion - 04/11/2009 11:50:06 PM 646 Views
Yes, it does. Distance causes maintained weaves and Links to attenuate. - 05/11/2009 04:22:37 PM 678 Views
Yes, but Compulsion is almost never a maintained weave *NM* - 06/11/2009 07:19:24 PM 358 Views
