Anyone get the feeling that Semirhage was set up by Shaidar Haran to die - to put the Dragon Reborn into a predicament so dire that he could only reach out to the True Power as a last resort, something that only the Great Lord of the Dark can bestow as a privilege, and thereby become corrupted over time? Or do you think it was something the Pattern wove into existence for a precaution should te need arise, when Rand and Moridin's opposing balefires crossed and merged their threads together? Or sheer happenstance of such?

I think he simply reached through Moridin and channeled the True Power. The Shadow isn't omnipotent, how would they know Rand would be able to even reach the TP through Moridin? The fact that Rand then turned into Dark Halo Rand just happened to serve the Shadow as an unintended side effect, in my opinion.

Obviously yes... otherwise they wouldn't have left the access key behind for Rand *NM* - 31/10/2009 06:47:26 AM 249 Views
I don't think they expected Semi to get away with Rand - 31/10/2009 02:43:23 PM 571 Views
I'm not so sure... I think they planned most of this event as their revenge on Semirhage - 31/10/2009 07:09:21 PM 528 Views
