Re: Super Channeler Status? Tedtheman Send a noteboard - 30/10/2009 05:38:54 PM

Can any extrapolations be made from this book?

From this book, I think perhaps that Nynaeve might be weaker in the Power than all the female Forsaken, except for Moghedien.

The strength tree may look like this...

1. Lanfear
2. Cyndane
3. Graendal
4. Semirhage/Mesaana/Alivia
5. Sharina
6. Nynaeve
7. Moghedien

We never got a direct reading of Semirhage's strength, which was extremely disappointing. I looked for it keenly because someone was bound to remark on her strength compared to Nynaeve's - but it never happened. However, the following can be said...

1. One Sister can hold Semirhage. Cadsuane assumes that one can hold anybody, but she adds two to make sure, in case Semirhage had a secret way of breaking shields.

2. Nynaeve says that the Forsaken are much too powerful to be left alive. This statement to me implies that Semirhage exceeds her power because Nynaeve would probably not say that if Semirhage equalled her (she's never cared much for her own strength anyway).

3. Sheriam says that the female Forsaken addressing her is incredibly strong in the Power, and she is shocked. The Forsaken is probably Mesaana because she goes back to the Tower, but could be Graendal or Cyndane. Either way, Sheriam is familiar with Nynaeve and Sharina and her statement implies that the Forsaken is the strongest she's ever felt.

Does anyone else have something to add to this topic?

The board needed one of your strength in the power posts. I am happy.
The only thing I might add is not to infer too much that Nyneave's statement refers solely to Semirhage's strength in the power. That very well could be it, but remember she got burned with Moghedien situation even though Nyneave was the more powerful. Just a thought, it could very well be because of her strength.

Wouldn't Semi fall into that area where on the old scale of power ratings, where 1-100 is the scale and LTT is a whatever was said 105 or 110 through his superior dexterity, Semi has that benefit? Maybe it was LTT at 110 and Demandred at 105, even though their actual power was 100 and 95.

So yes her just pure strength may be below Lanfear and perhaps Graendal, but her incredible control more than makes up for it except perhaps against Lanfear? So she is an 80 but is really a 90 given that?

Continuing that, do we even know Graedal is even that much stronger than any of the other Forsaken females? They make several references to her power of healing being not even related to the power for her true reknown. I still think Nynaeve is more than a match for anyone but Lanfear\Cyndane, Semi and Sharina(once fully trained). Being Sneaky, crafty, and emotionally charged benefits Nynaeve in any situation where her strength would come into play.

I think its important to remember that quote from Asmodean, and I'm paraphrasing because I'm at work. On when Rand blocked Aviendha's gateway "I've never felt anything like your weave before, anyone within a mile could have felt it, and I didn't know anyone but Demandred and Semirhage... and of course Lews Therin ... could do such a thing you have to know I'm your man.."

**please excuse me if I am misremembering that comparison power post from wotmania. I couldn't find that either for reference so this was all from memory**
